I have a Wood Stork who has been visiting the swamp/pasture (um, let's call it wetlands, it sounds so much better) just beside my house. He has been around all week. He sits in a tree, walks around in the water or just stands there. I like him because, unlike all those *#@$!!! herons and egrets, he does not fly away when I climb into the pasture camera in hand. These shots were not as close as I could have because I did not have my rubber boots on; a must when traipsing through the swamp/pasture (oops, I mean the wetlands). He is not the first stork to visit, this one was here for a while. I like him. He is calm, unlike the egrets. I hope he sticks around for a while.

That is the funniest bird in a tree I have ever seen.
Love these shots... how luck to have a woodstork. We just have the $%*^ Herons... but I love them anyway.
