Here is a fantastic example of how back light, especially evening light makes a normal picture look better. Who wants to take a picture of a grasshopper? Not that exciting, is it? However, when he is glowing orange from the sun, he looks kind of cool. This picture is SOOC (straight out of camera). I cropped it slightly and added a frame. I knew it would be a good shot as soon as I saw him. The wind was blowing and the grass he was climbing on was swaying in the wind. Behind him is water. Behind me is the setting sun (pictures of the setting sun will come in future posts). I wish I had zoomed out to give you some perspective of where I was shooting, but I do have this second picture that kind of gives you an idea. Who gets excited over a grasshopper (unless you are a seagull)?

You need to think about publishing your own Florida wildlife guidebook. I'm loving the insect photos. I've never once thought of taking a picture of one myself, but these are just gorgeous!
